A Sad Picture

Since they have closed my local range due to the COVID-19 overreaction, all this stuff I have accumulated, from Autotrickler and Autothrow on Sartorius, to the Hydro seater, the presses, the Bullet Genie, the SO/CO tool, and the AMP machine; are all dormant. I guess I can weigh primers......

Our range is closed as well but if you think that this is an over reaction you are sadly mistaken. Wife is a nurse and is taking care of multiple corona cases now. The people aren’t in good shape. The nurses aren’t being issued n95 masks because there aren’t enough to go around. The epidemiologist has been quarantined due to exposure.

Tell your wife thank you. I know that may not mean much to her and is of no help, but I mean it from the bottom of my heart.

Nice gear. This would be a time to join a private range if you can find one that’s a good fit. I’m feeling very blessed to have found one about 6 months ago with a real nice core group of about 15-20 frequent shooters that are a lot of fun to shoot with, half as far away as the public range I used to use, and an annual membership is cheaper too. As a bonus most of them know a lot and are happy to help others. Kick over some rocks and see what you can find in your area, you can’t let that little ammo factory idle too long.

One thing we can all be thankful for is that our hobby can be done outdoors and generally doesn’t require a crowd to make it go. What if your favorite activity was something that’s completely incompatible with social distancing?

Fill in the blank: I’m glad my favorite pastime is not _________________.

... Bingo night

A heart felt thank you to your wife from me!

I think the over-reaction is you blaming the virus for your lack of ________ ...you seriously can't find something to do ?

Taking precautions, quarantining the most at risk, social distancing, fast tracking meds and vaccines, and travel bans out side of the US are fine. Even having a two week National shutdown is probably okay. A National shutdown longer than that would make the cure worse than the disease, but none of that is the overreaction I am speaking of.

They shut down the members only section on my local range. I guess having 2 or 3 guys sharing a 20 bench firing line isn't enough social distance. Often I am there by myself. All they would have to do is close the public portion of the range, then mandate that only every other shooting station can be occupied in the members only section which includes: the pistol range, the rimfire range, the shotgun range, and the 100/200 yd range.

If you don't a SHTF gun or 3 and several thousand rounds for each and a bunch loaded for all your handguns, you need to get busy and reload. If you have all these things, it is time to buy a shogun reloading press and start casting your own buck shot and handgun bullets.

God Bless your wife - a real hero with an abundance of courage. Got to be a special place in heaven for people like her.
