what's everyone getting with it and 110's? Anyone running a 24" tube? Is 3000 FPS out of line with that setup?

    I get 3030 out of 105's in a 22" tube, so I don't see 3K being a problem with 110's in 24".

Your powder choice will really dictate the speed you get.

Viht N550 will most likely get you there

R17 expect 3100 but man does it eat barrels.

So very true. First 400 rd nos in an XC gave very measurable throat wear. Switched to H4350 for another 400 with zero wear.

From what I've seen on the heat burning index for powders RL17 is up there. Just behind the double based powders. I've maintained for years that the double base powders are harder on barrels and this has been confirmed for me by some of the manufactures that make primers, powders, bullets etc...and this is the reason I stay away from double base powders as they are harder on barrels!

I don't know off hand if RL17 is double base or not but if the heat index that I've seen is correct it's got characteristics of a double base powders.

I have 2500 rounds down my 6brx. RL-17, 117 and 115 DTAC exclusively, at 2970 fps, minus the 200 fireforming rounds. Still shoots like new.
    Go figure.

    It is a double base.

With the 6x47 Lapua and similar sized cases I've found R17 to yield higher velocities than any other powder. However, most of the time I choose another powder due to better accuracy. Viht N550 is close in performance to R17. I have much better accuracy using N550 than I ever have with R17.

Viht N550 is probably not easy on barrels. But I will keep using it due to exceptional accuracy in my 6x47 Lapua and 6.5x47. Great velocity also.
