6.5x47L Brock’s Gap SOY Benchrest

For those the has doubts if the 6.5x47 is competitive, well I shot mine all season at Brock’s Gap 520 yard club matches against every variant of the 6mm BR cases made and managed to pull off Shooter of the Year in both group and score agg for the Heavy Gun Class. it was a tough and challenging year considering the competition at these matches but I stayed with it and and the hard work and testing paid off.

Mine likes the 140 Long range Bergers and the 139gr Scenar's pushed by Varget of course.
Its in a McMillan MBR and im really enjoying it so far.

Good shooting. We have lots of groundhog matches here in Pa than run out to 500 yds. How big is your 10 ring and what score is usually need to win. We have another match here that is 2 10 shot strings at 400 yrs.

We use the IBS 600 yard targets. A winning score usually is from 191- 198
There are a few of us that’s shot a 199 but no one to date has shot a 200

Congratulations, way to go, and great shooting James! Hard work, proper practice, and testing pays off. ;-) WD

Just wondering what your course of fire was for the matches, sighters ?

We use the IBS 600 yard match course of fire procedure. First target 6 min unlimited sighters then targets 2-4 we have 2 min unlimited sighters and all 4 targets must have 5 shots for record and scored for group and score.

Congratulations on some very skilled marksmanship.

The rifle is a Bat M bedded in a MBR stock Brux 8 twist barrel I’m shooting the Sierra 123 MK H4350 and S&B primers

Congrats! FWIW I have found the 123 Scenar is more accurate than the heavier 140gr bullets I have tried, to the extent that they also perform better out to 1000yd despite the BC disadvantage. Good luck next season.

Congrats. Maybe I will be able to get with you and you teach me how to hit a target at 500 yds when you all start back up.
