6.5 Creedmoor - Base of brass too large

Poor Shot 65

Hi,

I have rechambered my Sako TRG-200 6.5 creedmoor with a new 6.5 creedmoor reamer. It seems that the old Sako chamber was rather loose and now all of my old brass is too large at the base (.471) and will not fit easily into the new chamber (.4714 according to the reamer print). If I load the brass into the new chamber you can see a ring around the base of the brass (please see the enclosed picture).

I have around 180 pieces of brass that I would like to re-use. Any idea on how to reduce the size of the brass at the base without bumping the shoulder ?

Thanks

Adam

I tried to edit my post above but can not get that feature to work. I have a 260 Remington bolt action match rifle that has sticky extraction after a couple of firings on the brass that has been run thru a regular full length sizing die on each loading. If I run the brass thru a 308 small base resizing die that solves the problem. This may work for you if the Creedmoor brass is close enough to 308, I am not sure.

Put them on the lathe. It's like neck turning.

i went ahead an used a .308 SB die to resize the brass close to the base and it seems to have worked well (it reduced it about .005). after resizing the brass - the shoulder got bumped out by ~.005. I then had to bump the shoulder back and then trim the brass to make sure it was the correct length. It is a long process (perhaps i should have just purchases some new brass), but everything looks good now and i can easily chamber and eject the brass from my rifle. Just wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions.
