300 win mag LAPUA???

Hey guys,
Just passing on some info. I wrote LAPUA about brass for my 300 win Mag. They said they have NEVER produced belted cases but rather loaded ammo. This ammo was loaded into cases by "another Scandinavian manufacturer" and sold. There is another run of this ammo in the pipeline.

There are also people pushing hard for a belted magnum line of brass from LAPUA. They are considering it.

If this seems a good idea to you please contact LAPUA and let them know.

WE DESERVE GOOD BRASS TOO! I need something to match the 230 grain tactical Bergers!

It would be nice if lapua made 300WM brass. It would be nice if they made straight 284W brass instead of only 6.5-284 brass too!

Why dont you try some Nosler Custom brass in 300WM it is a damn good case!

Ian

The idea of straight 284 Win brass has been advanced, and we've had a few requests for this. It'd be an easy one for us, that's for sure! No commitment yet, but we can certainly keep you posted.

Still working on the 300 WM stuff, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one sometime down the road.

That is funny :o I have around 500 rounds of Lapua 300 WM brass. says Lapua right on the bottom and it was in a gold box at that time. That was around 5 years ago that I got it. I think I got it from Sinclair.

That brass was made by Norma for Lapua and stamped with their headstamp. I just bought some Norma brass that came from the RWS warehouse and is head stamped T 300 Win Mag. I am assuming it will be to the same specs as Norma Brass?

I have some also ,,,but shure didnt know it was made by NORMA!!!,,it lookd like Lapua is headed down the drain,,,prettty sad when they gotta have someone else make their product,,,and then lie to us by stamping their name on it!!! grrrr...Roger

anyone feel like giving away all that two-faced Gold box brass that has done nothing but lie to you and betray your trust,,? anyone?

We've had a lot of requests for the WSM and SAUM cases as well, and they're also under consideration. The problem here is that it's a head size we don't make. In the case (no pun intended) of the 300 WM, we've never made any belted case, of any caliber. When market demands called for ammo, we used another OEM producer to provide cases to our standard. I hate to break anyone's delicate sensibilities here, but this is, and always has been a common practice in this industry. I'd very much like to see us producing our own line of belted mag cases, and I've pushed to get this done. Actually, I'd like to see the H&H cases made, since we could do the entire family of .532" head belted designs . . . Weatherby, the short Win and Rem mags like the 458, 338, 300, 7mm, 264, etc., all off that same basic case. But until we make that basic head size and the belted format, it's a big investment in time, resources and money for us. Not saying we won't do it someday, but don't hold your breath. Depends on production demands, and what the future market looks like, but we'll keep you posted.

Kevin, its no mystery why Lapua are so successful, when I read so many of your posts which are honest and open statements of what the company's doing. It seems Lapua listen to their customers and have the good sense to employ people like you who make the company open to comment and conversation with shooters. Keep talking to us Kevin as we appreciate it very much!

It has always been by impression that Norma Brass is softer than Lapua. Is this not the case in other member's experience?
Bill

Norma claims the mags get cut pockets and holes not stamped but from what other shooters say there a little more out of tolerance then a Lapua.. I would think there better then alternatives though!

dont be afraid to use Winchester brass,,,,they have their alloy down pat now and are makeing lots for the mil. and public with better brass than ever,,,,in all cal's,,,Roger
