Friend got some 284 reloads that are a little long to fit the mag. We don't have a seater die. Would like a 30 06 seater work? ty

    243 range on - deer

I'm the op, this could be a separate post. Me. I benchrest 100 200 300 and 400 every week in the summer. Its I just have never owned a 243 before. However, I bought a new Ruger American II yesterday based on this info. All my stands are setup with adequate rests. We owe it to the animal. thanks...

    243 range on - deer

Just bought a Ruger 243 with the muzzle break because of ''my'' health reasons, not the deer. What's the farthest out you would shoot a whitetail if you had a good shot in the open? The only rifle I have used for 40 years is my 7 mag for whitetail. ty Don I should add 100 gr. bullet.

looking for a old man's rifle

Thanks, you guys are the best. I think I'm looking for a used [new are pricey] 243 semi if I can find one as I will only use it for 1 season then go back to my first love my 7 mag. I think a 243 would have less kick as my 7 mag with a min load w 150s. I'm not going to shoot unless I see a...

Cleaning with Abrasives and using Fire Lapping kits and warranty

So you get a new custom barrel, you take it out and break it in. {Does it need it}? Then you clean it down to bare ss steel like factory finish. Does it need another ''breakin''?

Cleaning with Abrasives and using Fire Lapping kits and warranty

I borescoped a well-known shooters bore before he shot a match. The 1st 4'' looked slightly blue to me. [not clean]. No carbon ring ether. He did well. No abrasives for him. Opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one. LOL my 2 cents.

looking for a old man's rifle

Had open heart a few weeks ago. With deer season coming up in a couple of weeks I know I can't shoot my ol 7mm mag. [It reached out to 400 yds nicely] So I guess i'm looking for a rifle with less recoil. One that won't kill on both ends. Ideas?

    Hard carbon removing, help!

My 2 cents - this horse has no hide left on it. Abrasives are the ONLY thing that will remove hard carbon. Your barrel doesn't have to look like it did when new, never fired - I looked at a respected smith - shooters barrel w a borescope before a match, it had a slight dark blue for the 1st 4...
