  1. Bad shoulder

I've had both shoulders worked on and I feel your pain! I switched over to specialty pistols and moved away from rifles. Still have 2 rifles, but seldom use them. With the handgun, no more direct recoil to the shoulder, no more pain. When my issues started, I had both shoulders worked on...
  2. Headin' for the PD Front again...

Looks like a good setup you have. Did you have to add additional support on the bed to support the weight of the large rest you made? The drop port is interesting.
  3. Home Made Snap caps very easy

I've only used snap caps for rimfire. I dry fire centerfire frequently and have never had any issues.
  4. DIY FOAM CUTTER

I use to build model airplanes many many years ago. I made a "hot wire" jig I saw in Popular Mechanics. The hot wire literally glides through foam with ease and makes a clean cut. Mine was very similar to the one Buffalo Bill posted, but a little larger.
  5. Safe Location Question

Thanks for all the advise. I have contacted a safe mover and they will put it in the basement. The basement is completely finished out so extra columns and bracing are not an option. I thought I had mentioned this when I wrote up the thread, but didn't.
  6. Safe Location Question

Just moved into a new house and trying to find a place for my safe. It's not a beast of a safe, but it does weigh 500 lbs. I have a room on the main level where I would like it to go along with all my reloading items. There is no upstairs, but there is a basement. I don't think I can get it...
  7. My 20 Vartarg custom

What twist barrel are you using with the Berger 55's? Oops, never mind. I looked back on post #1 and saw it was a 9 twist.
  8. Shooting sticks

As previously mentioned, the Swagger Bipod is a really good choice. These can be used with a picatinny rail or arca rail (using an adaptor). Depends on how far on foot I'm going. Long distance the Swagger Bipod goes, short distance tripod & Swagger goes.
  9. Shooting Chairs ?

Check out this link on Predator Masters. Go to post #15. He reviews 6 different chairs. There are also numerous post on different chairs throughout this link.
  10. 6mm Cartridge

I like the 6BR since it is the Easy Button in reloading. I like the other calibers mentioned, but the 6BR is just so easy to load for and it has good barrel life. If I had to change it would be the 6XC.
  11. Release agent for JB weld bedding

I've used one very liberal coat and did not buff. When putting it on, I did so under good lighting so I could make sure everything was coated as it should be and there were no lumps of the wad showing on the action.
  12. Savage 110 HEAVY trigger and bolt lift

I've never had any luck with bolt lift kits. I added a long bolt handle and that solve the bolt lift issue. I also dumped the Savage trigger assembly and went with a JARD trigger. Both of these changes made a big difference in the Savage.
  13. Release agent for JB weld bedding

Neutral shoe polish and Imperial case lube also work well. Some also use the Hornady Hot Shot case lube.
  14. PTG 700 action

Several years ago, I bought a Rem. 700 action, left hand bolt. It came with a .308 bolt face. I was making a 20 VT and needed the smaller bolt face. I bought a complete bolt from PTG and after about a 2 month wait, it finally came in. I had the action trued up with both bolts. I haven't...
  15. Portable Shooting Bench/Table

    Link does not work
  16. Burglar Alarms for Shooting Club

I agree with what dellet mentioned above. Only thing a light coming on at night would do is aid the crook in getting inside. You could hide an Apple AirTag to items that would be taken. With a hidden motion detector inside the business, it could alert you instantly with movement inside the...
  17. 10 22

Thanks for that post. I want to do this with my Charger after my new barrel goes on.
  18. The took the hay off today - it's officially Woodchuck season!!!

I'm right there with you Rick. I no longer shoot prone for that very reason and after knee replacement it's hard to get up. A tripod is your best friend. Standing or sitting it's great.
  19. Ruger American Predator Gen 2

I use brakes on all my specialty pistols. It allows me to see my hits/misses when hunting prairie dogs. When I'm at the range they stay on. There's a point of impact change if they're removed. If you're hunting with it and don't have a spotter or not interested in seeing hits and misses...
  20. Portable Shooting Bench/Table

I used a rotating shooting bench for several years. For me it didn't work out very well. I found it wasn't that easy to relocate when needed. I switched over to a game cart & tripod. I move around frequently depending on wind direction and what the prairie dogs are doing. When moving from...
