  3. Hearing aid recommendations?

I have EXTREME Tinnitus. I have stayed away from the VA. I have $7k set of hearing aids that don't do a thing for me. They are just high dollar blue tooth earbuds. I have been to 4 doctors specializing in Tinnitus. They have all told me the same thing. Nothing they can do besides play some...

  5. Winchester 7mm 125 Power Point Bullet

I have a buddy that has a few hundred of the older Winchester 7mm 125 Gr Power Point bullets. #2812P Would anyone know if those are varmint or deer bullets? I know people hunt deer with modern 7mm 120 bullets. Just don't know with these old ones.

DFW area. I just love it. Not really.
  8. Let's snivel about the heat.

I'm a Commercial HVAC contractor in Fort Worth. I personally don't care for the heat but it sure is good for business. But the heat is hard on you, especially working on a unit up on a roof for 12 - 14hrs. where it gets well over 120 degs. with that big heat lamp in the sky bearing down on...
  9. Braided fishing line?

Be sure and use mono for the first few feet on your reel then tie braid to mono after. Over time braid will unspool or slip off of your reel when it's being pulled. There are other ways to prevent it from slipping also. Just be aware.
  10. Smokin

I feel for y'all. A few years ago there was big fires in Mexico and the smoke blew up into north Texas. I was on top of a 40 story building in Fort Worth working on the A/C. I actually got nauseous from being up there. On the ground it wasn't that bad. The only smoke I like being around is...
  11. What's going on with Sierra?

At least in my neck of the woods, at all the places that sell bullets, Hornady's are on the shelves. We call them "Steve's Bullets". Steve has his stuff is on the shelves. You see a few boxes of Sierra and a couple of boxes of Nosler and very few Berger's every now and then. But Steve's...
  12. .218 vs .219 .224 Barrel

I bought this barrel because it was in stock at Krieger. I figured, can't go wrong with a Krieger. To order a barrel its 6-14 months depending on manufacture. The initial plan was a Brux (9 months). The barrel will be 24" built on a trued 700 action bedded in a HS MilSpec Stock. I have a...
  13. .218 vs .219 .224 Barrel

Could anyone tell me why you would go .218 vs .219 Groove barrel? Most barrels I see are .219 but, the cut barrels are offering .218. I just bought a Krieger 8 twist Rem Var contour, which is .218 that will be chambered in .223 Rem, and was wondering why the difference.
  14. Bergara rifles

Not to hijack the thread. I have a 308 built on a 700 action. I had a hell of a time getting it to shoot like I thought it should. Its a #4 Benchmark 10 twist barrel. I tried Varget, IMR 4064, H4895 and probably some other powders. I also tried different bullets. I finally tried a 150 gr...
  15. 7mm-08 Load

When I started, I was using Remington brass and a 140 Partition. The powder it liked was IMR4350 and would not shoot Varget. I switched to Lapua Brass with same bullet, and my load changed. With the Lapua Brass the rifle would not shoot IMR 4350 and would Varget. When I first went to the...
  16. 700 5R Milspec Crown

I got a 5R Milspec 223 Rem. It actually shoots pretty good for what it is. It's an honest 1/2" 5 shot rifle (with this nut behind the bolt). I was thinking about getting the barrel a new crown and if it would be worth the cost, still being a factory barrel. I was just kicking the idea around...

  18. New USMC rifle qualification.

I was a Primary Marksmanship Instructor in the Marines. I'm all for the the additional training, but like posted above, there still needs to be the 2 week training, 1 week snap in and 1 week live fire for basic marksmanship fundamentals and yearly qualification. Then do the additional training.
  19. Breakfast in USMC

Biscuits and sausage gravy is my favorite breakfast. Gravy made with the sausage grease and I usually add some bacon grease also, and flower for the roux. Then I add milk and add the cooked sausage when gravy is done. That's Chad's way (me) anyways. When I got to MCRD and saw that gravy and...
  20. Go Vote Tuesday!!

I voted on Oct 24th, the first day of early voting. I made sure I voted as soon as I could, just incase something happened where I couldn't. I wish I would have timed it, from the time I got out of my truck to the time I got back in was probably no more than 3 mins. Johnson County TX still...
