  1. Recommendations for a re bedding

https://www.accurateshooter.com/technical-articles/stress-free-pillar-bedding/ This method is excellent and the way I have done it for years with my benchrest rifles.
  2. Tack Driver 6

    300 WSM?
  3. 22 BR no turn neck OD ?

peterson brass has been 0.0005 thicker than lapua, leading to a larger loaded diameter. My loaded Peterson was creeping up on 0.252, which is snug in a 0.254 chamber, but has been working fine for a benchrest rifle that gets cleaned every 30-50rnds. Edit: the Lapua loads up to 0.251, which is...
  4. Old powder test

Your loads are very low pressure. If you move up to a higher pressure you may find ignition becomes more consistent. I am shooting surplus powder dating back to the 60s still and it is fine so I’m skeptical that all 30 lbs you have is bad unless there is visible discoloration or it fails the...
  5. Best hand priming tool?

My only complaint about the Frankfort that I use all the time is that you have to compress the spring with the little vertical serrated thumb pad to get the shell holder out, which is not very easy. I wish the thumb pad was horizontal and gave a little more purchase to pull down on.
  6. Best reloading practice. What is most important

I’ll add: have the courage to stop doing something and see if it makes a difference. Everyone built their routine up, adding things as they got better. I only know a handful that have then started pulling things out to see what actually mattered. I was able to pull pretty much everything back...
  7. Noticeable recoil difference using lighter wt bullets

I have never noticed a significant difference from bullet weight. For example a full pressure 150 vs 180 in a 30-06 feel very similar to me. Reduced loads were the best way to bring down recoil (and muzzle blast) but the point of impact is way different. Have to agree that if you’re practicing...
  8. Top pay for a shooting event and yearly gross

I’m not sure what your point is other than trash talking people who play golf for fun. I am asking myself why you’re here saying this bit of nastiness rather than actually proposing something or discussing what you want to see happen in the shooting sports. I look at professional golf...
  9. Top pay for a shooting event and yearly gross

large payouts bring some of the worst human behavior to the surface. I have always considered the lack of any real payout an asset and virtue of the shooting sports.
  10. Which 6? GT, XC, XC II, Creed, C47???

I agree, it’s a really nice size for anyone who wants more than a 22BR can give, or needs it to feed from a magazine without modifications.
  11. Which 6? GT, XC, XC II, Creed, C47???

No real offense meant - I think it's easy for people to get wrapped up in what are actually very small differences and when you have these cases in your hands, you realize it's not really worth stressing over. I don't think there is any real difference between the 6 creedmoor, the 6 XC, and the...
  12. Which 6? GT, XC, XC II, Creed, C47???

Maybe this gives a little perspective: 6 Creedmoor, 6.5x47 case, 22GT (formed from 6 Creedmoor), 6 Dasher, and 6 BR. All this arguing about 6XC and 6 Creedmoor when the XC literally splits the difference between the Creedmoor and the x47. Go with the one that gives you warm fuzzy feelings...
  13. 22-250 XP100R powder recommendations

This was maybe 10 years ago now before I moved to the 22BR, but I recall 4064 being better. I think 4064 has been basically extinct for a few years now. Just to add to my previous comment, it was Bartlein and Kreiger barrels, 18” long - a little longer than standard TC or XP barrels.
  14. 22-250 XP100R powder recommendations

If youve got IMR-4064, 35.2gns was magic with 50gn vmax in 4 different barrels.
  15. 20 vartarg improved?

I have heard it called the 20 FBI - “FireBall Improved”
  16. Alpha 30BR brass

My Norma 22 PPC USA came out of the box at 0.011 and seemed thin for factory.
  17. Athlon chronograph in stock

The Garmin is made in Taiwan and designed by Americans.
  18. 6 ARC brass

Does an AR really have that much unsupported case that you can blow out the brass like that? I would assume the barrel was improperly chambered if that came out of a bolt gun. In my 222, Starline has significantly less internal volume than Norma. A safe but high charge in Norma will blow the...
  19. For those who sort primers....

Back into the original sleeves is safest. Primers are significantly more energetic than powder and I wouldn’t be comfortable with a bunch of them loose in a jar.
  20. Building A ELR Rifle

Jackie, Whiddens has N570 again: https://www.whiddengunworks.com/product/vihtavuori-n570-smokeless-powder-8-lb/
