Remington model 722 - scope base question

  • Some manufacturers list a base for the 700 and 722 with the same part number.

Other manufacturers list a base with the same part number for the 600, 660, 700, 721, and a bunch of other models EXCEPT for the 722, which suggests that the base will not work on the 722.

    So, will a 700 base fit a on a 722 action?

Google search yielded minimal results, which only confused the matter a little more.  I don't have any rem 700 bases to test fit, which is why I'm asking. I'd rather get confirmation that a 700 base will work on my 722 prior to ordering it.

  • My experience is that 700 bases fit 722's perfectly. Hope this helps.

  • I have two F Class rifles built on 722 actions, 6SLR and .223. They both take Weaver 700 Tactical bases.

  • Butch,

My action is drilled/tapped, so that part is not a problem. That makes me wonder if it was done from the factory though?

  •  The short 700 is the same space etc. as the 722 and the long 700 is like a 721,,,,UNLESS it is "custom" drilled by an individual.....Roger
