Jazz Only!!!

I am tired of all this Pop, Rock, and Country stuff. This thread is for Jazz only. I'll start by posting a tune from the hardest swinging band of all time.

Worked for a couple of hours this afternoon on my old BMW motorcycle during lock-down and was in the mood for a bit of Diana Krall.

Since it is a shooting site, also fitted a Yo Dave kit to my CZ 455.

Nice to see I am not the only one who likes good music! Jazz is so much more substantial than most other types of music. It requires technical skill on the instrument, a solid understanding of harmonic structure, a very solid sense of time, and a full understanding of the "rules" for playing jazz. And all that just makes you average.......

Here is one of the superstars that we sadly lost way too soon. No drugs or abuse, a car accident got him.

Not sure if this is technically jazz, but my son can play it on guitar and I ask him to play it often. He explores alot of different styles to play.

Jazz has always been hard to define. From straight-ahead big band jazz to combos, bebop, cool jazz, latin jazz, smooth jazz, and fusion; there are lots of styles. However, we all seem to know what jazz is when we hear it.......

Here is another favorite. I have played this arrangement many times. The lead trumpet part is VERY cool. In fact, there is not music cooler than jazz. Everything else just starts getting squarer and squarer.......
